Integrated Tourism Region in Bakauheni Developed

Lampung Provincial Government will develop an integrated tourism area in Bakauheni, South Lampung. This was done with PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), PT Indonesia Tourism Development or Indonesia Tourism Development Coporation (ITDC), and PT Hutama Karya (Persero). The development of the area was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the President Director of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Ira Puspadewi with the Governor of Lampung Province, Arinal Djunaidi, Managing Director of Hutama Karya Bintang Perbowo, and Managing Director of ITDC Abdulbar M Mansoer.

Ira said, Bakauheni is a potential area as a tourism area considering South Lampung has a huge tourism potential through beautiful natural wealth, many attractive beach locations, conservation, until Siger Tower.  It could become a new alternative tourism besides Bandung and Puncak in West Java. Integrated tourism area in Bakauheni Lampung, carries the concept of Bakauheni Harbor City where the development area is located before the entrance gate of the Bakauheni Selatan toll road. ITDC will act as the manager, cause they are as a BUMN developer and manager of a tourism area that has successfully developed Nusa Dua, Bali and Mandalika, NTB.

As a reference for cities that have integrated tourism areas, including the Nusa Dua region, Bali, which is managed by ITDC. In those region, there are 1.3 million visitors per year, of which one million are foreign tourists. While in Lampung Province, there are 8.29 million inhabitants. With the development of this integrated tourism area and the potential for community movement across Merak-Bakauheni can reach five million people per year, the company hopes that Bakauheni can become a new tourism alternative and make sustainable regional development for the common welfare. In addition, the development will also be carried out on land owned by PT Hutama Karya (Persero) and Lampung Provincial Government. Thus, the total integrated tourism area of ​​Bakauheni will reach an area of ​​173.9 ha.
